Once upon a time, any years ago, A terrible battle raged near Narva. Here the guard of Peter bravely fought And our soldiers earned great glory. Years have passed, and again Narva sees Russian troops in combat, Our guard destroying the Teutonic barbarian, The Russian bayonet chasing him away. A strong “hurrah!” rolls like a wave Estonian or Russian: everyone rejoices, And our soldiers celebrate their victory, Just as they celebrated in the days of Peter!
