About this artwork
Vienna’s Kunstgewerbeschule, or School of Applied Arts, had many distinguished professors, including Weiner Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop) founder Josef Hoffman (Austrian, 1870–1956). During Hoffmann’s early years of teaching, his own work became increasingly geometric, and this fabric’s design of small triangles punctuated by circles and straight lines reflects his influence.
