About this artwork

After working for 15 years as a steel hauler, Ramirez decided to become a full-time artist. He studied under Roland Ginzel at the University of Illinois at Chicago and then attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago briefly before pursuing his MFA at the University of Chicago. Ramirez is inspired by philosophy and music, and in composition and execution he attempts to evoke the spiritual through abstraction.
