About this artwork
Whistler and Roussel’s linked exploration of transfer lithography has been confirmed by scientific analysis of the specially prepared paper used for their drawings. The fine-grained sheets used for this image and for Roussel’s Figure in a Chinese Gown, exhibited nearby, have an identical white lead coating.
