About this artwork
Since the early 1970s, Fisher has worked in a mode that can roughly be described as narrative. For the artist, the narrative is mediated between text—or an allusion to something verbal—and the formal properties of composition and marks. Fisher’s recent work is made with chalk on prepared panels that look like blackboards.
