Signed, titled, and dated, along bottom: "Mesens / ALPHABET SOURD (encore) / ET (toujours) AVEUGLE 15/1957"; inscribed, verso: "At the entry of this work / in the collection of Edwin / and Lindy Bergman, I / make the promss [sic] to give / them a collage when they / will already possess five / of them. Bargain or joke? / But very sincerely / E.L.T. Mesens / 13th May 1959 (line through) / 13th April 1959"
