Inscribed lower left corner of secondary support, in graphite: “Epreuve avant le nom de Lemercier”; verso, lower left quadrant, in graphite (partially erased): “eps du 1er etat sur chine, / avant le nom de Lemercier / [illegible]”; lower left corner, in graphite: “WT (encircled)” and “MN 85 imp. d’essai.”
