About this artwork
The Wiener Werkstätte produced a variety of printed textiles like Bavaria as well as woven fabrics, pile carpets, and even lace. This particular design was also printed on lightweight silk for dresses, in several different color combinations. The title likely references the traditional embroidery motifs of southern Germany and Austria that inspired the design.
