ABOUT ECHELON

Echelon is a worldwide system of surveillance and intelligence that reportedly tracks global electronic communications (including the worldwide web and email). It consists of ground based satellite dishes and antennae that have the potential (though quite possibly not the bandwidth) to tap in to the world's electronic communications. The Echelon system is reportedly triggered by a set of several thousand words and acronyms that are associated with nefarious activities. These words, by virtue of their literal, metaphorical, covert and/or coded meanings, have been compiled in an Echelon "Lexicon". Multiple versions of this lexicon exist and can be obtained online.
