HANDOUT>INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA>CREATING A FULLSCREEN PROJECTOR

Instructor: Tiffany Holmes

HOMEWORK DUE NEXT WEEK: Midterm project burned to CD

DIRECTIONS:

1) Play movie repeatedly, at least 20 times to make sure there are no coding errors.

2) Choose File>Save and Compact

(This action resaves a new version of your existing movie in place of your old one)

3) Choose File>Create Projector

4) In the dialog box that comes up with the heading "Open" at the top of the window, locate on your desktop or other disk your MOVIE, the one that begins the piece if you have several movies connected.  Click the blue button that says ADD.

5) Now click Options.  Put a check mark by these settings:

Options: Full Screen

Stage Size: Center

Memory: Use System Temporary Memory

Also these radio buttons should be filled in, just double check:

Stage Size: Use movie settings (radio button will be filled in automatically)

Player: Standard

Target: MacOS X

6) Click OK in the Options pop up window when finished.

7) Click Create

8) After a second or two, a new dialog box will pop up that asks you where to store the new projector and asks what to name it.  STORE IN THE SAME FOLDER AS YOUR ORIGINAL MOVIE.

9) Adding a custom ICON.  Click on your projector file.  Go to File>Get Info.  If you copy and paste another small icon file you can avoid having the orange Macromedia Director logo displaying your Projector file.  Free icons: http://www.iconfactory.com/

10) Prepping for a CD burn.  Place your folder containing the original movie, images, Projector file on the desktop.  Open the folder and choose ICON view.  Place the Projector file in the upper left corner of the window as well as the Read_Me file if you want to include one (best as a TextEdit document that ends in either .rtf or .txt).  MOVE ALL OTHER FILES TO LOWER RIGHT.  Then shrink window so you only see the projector and Read_Me file.

11) Use Toast or Disk Copy now to create a disk image and burn a CD.  Test ALWAYS on a different computer than where you burned the CD.
