About the journal:
The reading response journal is a way to generate ideas, responses, and questions about the assigned reading. You need to write a response to each reading listed in the syllabus. Each response should be about a page or so long. You might want to think of each response as a position paper in which you answer a question that you pose about the reading. Also, focus questions are posted above the assigned readings to help give you ideas about what to write about.
Remember:
Please do not write only summaries of the articles. The journal responses are meant to help all of us contribute to class dialogue and discussion. Occasionally, we will exchange journals and read each others entries.
Please head each response with the title of the article, and the date (the Monday) the reading is to be discussed. When we trade our journals around this organization will help us locate the responses that we wish to read.
