Rubric for grading projects: Art projects are so exciting, diverse, and personal that grading can be subjective and difficult. Professor Holmes will grade each art work using the five criteria listed below.

Craft Does the piece reflect the students growing expertise with the materials and tools selected to complete the project? Does the sketch or artwork reflect "mastery" of the skills and concepts taught during class time? |

Technical Is the piece plagued by technical glitches or errors that were not planned by the artist? |

Presentation Does the student effectively verbalize or explain his/her intentions in creating the piece to solve the problem at hand? Does the student handle both praise and criticism about the piece in a mature way? |

Personal Growth and Consistency Does the art work reflect the students progress in the class? Did the student take risks to complete this project? If the project was comprised of multiple sections or parts, do all of the parts display the same high quality of construction? |
