SINGLES PARTY
Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Pop Songs, Issue 855, December 7, 2000
It's a disgrace that the first rap song on RS 100 greatest singles appears at number 71 - LLCool J's "I Need Love."

HAIL TO THE CHIEF
The West Wing, NBC, Wednesdays, 9pm EST
I have a major crush on Keri Russell, star of TV's Felicity which is on opposite the West Wing on Wednesday nights. The West Wing is such an incredible show that I have forsaken my dear Keri and have switched this compelling, funny, fiercely intelligent and poignant TV drama.

THE NEXT JORDAN
Kobe Bryant, guard for the Los Angeles Lakers
He is now the best player in the NBA. And the most exciting. The alley-oop that he caught on the other side of the basket and threw down while being undercut by a Philadelphia 76er can only be described as SICK!

CELEBRITIES: LOVE 'EM OR HATE 'EM?
www.fametracker.com
You love celebrities - admit it. You hate celebrities too. Don't you? Fametracker best captures the U.S.'s attraction/repulsion to all things famous with their dead-on analysis of celebrity worth. With sections like the Fame Audit, where they assess if celebs are deserving of their current approximate levels of fame - recently John Turturro was found to not have the fame he deserves and Charlize Theron had too much, The Galaxy of Fame, where this week's stars are aligned to the center of Fame galaxy - Harrison Ford - who is the Sun. Last week the Beatles were Mercury and Robert Downey Jr. was Pluto and Two Stars, One Slot, where veteran character actors do battle to fit into their typecast roles - like Chi McBride and Charles S. Dutton in the battle of Big, Bald, Righteous Black Men. While the writing is often deliciously catty and droll, it's not a complete hatchet job. This site truly loves celebrities, but wishes that we had better ones as it cheers and roots for it's favorite famous peoples.

PAINTERLY
Bernard Freize Leslie Cohan Browne, Chelsea
Conceptual Formalism that's damn sexy. He makes some sort of painting apparatus, dips the brushes into multi-hued pools of paint just once and makes the painting in one curving helix shaped brushstroke. The colors start out vibrant and rich and then muddy and peter out towards the end of the stroke. Plus the suface is de-lux.

NOT PAINTERLY Sue Williams 303 Gallery, Chelsea
Ms. Williams has drained her paintings of any traces of the sex and violence that used to make her work so intriguing. They've been compared favorably to DeKooning's late airy abstractions, which is not a good thing because the late DeKooning sucked.
