Haitian & American Artist Exchange Kara Grant |
Kara Grant is a J.D. candidate at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law - Bloomington, having landed in Indiana via Texas, Philadelphia, Maryland, and Chicago. Although she has work experience in many areas, her longstanding interests are human rights, development, and language and culture studies. Recently Kara volunteered as a summer intern with Bureau des Avocats Internationaux in Port au Prince, Haiti. Her research there centered on the struggle to realize social, cultural, and economic human rights, particularly in relation to education. In addition, while in Haiti, she had the opportunity to meet Beps, Ebby, and other young artists and activists. Kara looks forward to many return visits and continuing collaborations in both art and development. She will continue her study of the Caribbean and Haitian Creole in 2009-2010 as a FLAS Fellow at Indiana University. |
