Sue Frame will be hosting a trip to Jacmel, Haiti. The collaborators of the HAAE will help find suitable lodgings and a guide to show off some beautiful Haitian scenery. If you would like to come and see the Haitian arts first hand please e-mail Sue to get details. Seriously come chill on the beach with us.

Flo, Ebby and Sue have gotten a grant from the Astraea Foundation to set up a sculpture studio at the art school FOSAJ. The money will go to upgrading the infrastructure and hiring a shop manager. We are now collecting donated tools and Sue will be training some of the artists in tool safety and maintenance. If you would like to donate a tool please e-mail Sue and she will find arrangements for pick up if it is possible. If you can't donate a tool but would like to help financially please make a donation. Most of these tools need bits or blades which we cannot buy in Haiti.

May Adventures in New York

For the first time in a long time the HAAE collaborators were able to be in the same space. Ebby and Baya were there to screen a short film, "Miss Body Plastik" at the Alliance Francais. Flo was in New York working on procuring a grant from the Astraea Foundation. Kara and Sue decided to travel to New York to support their friends and get in some solid hang out time.

While in New York in May Bayard and Ebby were invited to be apart of the production crew for a film centering on Haitian imigration and refugies. The film is still currently in production.

November 1st 2008 is Fet Ghede, there will be lots of festive Vodou ceremonies just before the 1st and in the week after, and it would be an excellent time to relax, party, and experience the culture at one of its most special times. The costumes and street performances are amazing. This is a yearly Haitian tradition. You will most likely see some HAAE members joining in the festivities.

If you are interested in experiencing Jacmel during this time contact us and we may be able to help you find helpful travel resources.
