Bayard Jean Benard

BAYARD Jean Bernard was born inJacmel, Haiti on August 21, 1981. His father is a teacher and his mom is a trader. He grew up in the cultural environment of the High School Célie Lamour.

 During his teenage years Baya began to explore amateur video and of photography. This early work led Baya to create his business Beps Production, with his nickname from primary school.

Baya has explored and developed many talents such as lighting, sound, photography, filming, editing, acting and installation artwork. He has worked with many different organizations  such as Alliance Francais, Jacmel's local television station (RTEC) and many major film and music festivals.

 

 

 

 

Beps recently participated in the Transcultural Form at the Africamerica art center in Port au Prince. The performance involved video, music and body expressions.

Beps performed with his camera to create a live video feed that was mixed by Makseans Denis.

 

Beps founded Beps Production Co. in 1999. He has worked with local and international artists.

"Soup Joumou" is a video Beps worked on that went to the 5th annual 72 Hour Stopwatch film festival in November 2007. Click here to see the video.
