About Me

General Info

My name is Nicola Tsoi, and I am currently a sophomore student studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the USA. I aim to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (with an emhasis in writing) by the end of 2011.

Previous Education

From grade school to high school, I studied in Hong Kong; my grade school being Hong Lok Yuen International School and my middle and high school years both being spent in Sha Tin College. In grades 9 and 10, I took the GCSEs, including the subjects of English, Art and Maths, whereas in grades 11 and 12, I did and completed the diploma for the International Baccalaureate in 7 subjects including Theory of Knowledge and Visual Arts.

Work Experience

I have worked as a Student Translator during the World Trade Organisation held in Hong Kong in December 2006, helping to translate from English to Spanish (and vice versa). I have also worked in Benoy, a company in interior design and architecture. During both these experiences, I learned and gained a lot from working in the real world.

Awards

Throughout the years, I have gained several awards, including 7 commendations in the subject of art, gaining a principal's commendation in English, a merit award from California College of the Arts and participating and completing the Nanowrimo challenge twice, which was to write 50,000 words in the month of November.
