CULP 1001
Beginning Sculpture

This is an introductory course for those who have had little or no experience with sculpture. General concepts of sculpture from idea to form and from materials to methods are explored. FIRYR 1003 3-D/Studio is recommended prior to enrollment in this course.


SCULP 1002
Introduction to Figure Studies

Students learn the necessary skills for figure modeling through drawing and work in clay and wax. Live models are used. Form, structure, materials, and basic design concepts are explored.


SCULP 1003
Beginning Metalworking

An introduction to the use of basic metalworking tools and techniques. Students explore the creative potential of non-ferrous metals. Assigned problems encourage experimentation with cultural assumptions about objects and artifacts, their relation to the body; and the creation of narrative through materials, process, and form.
