toning, graphic arts film, studio lighting, different darkroom techniques,
alternative cameras, and different papers and films. Prerequisite: PHOTO

Photography III: Color
This course will emphasize the refinement of color printing techniques
and introduce color processes not previously covered in Photography
II, such as Polariod transfer, color separations, color theory,
Duratrans, different film formats, and different types of color film
and film processing (E-6 and C-41). Prerequisite: PHOTO 1001 and PHOTO

Large-Format Camera
This course introduces students to ideas and attitudes that are inherent
and possible with the large-format camera. These attitudes begin with
traditional uses of the large-format equipment including portraiture,
landscapes, still life, and architecture, while developing a more personal
viewpoint. The coursework covers roll film, sheet film, the zone system,
printing skills, related equipment, and individual projects relating
to the large-format image. The cameras available for use are the 2-1/4,
4 x 5, 5 x 7, and 8 x 10 view cameras. Students are required to have
their own light meters. Prerequisite: PHOTO 1002.

Manipulations and Extensions
This course is designed for students who have a basic knowledge of photography
and its materials and an interest in the use of the photo image as part
of a broad vocabulary of image-making processes. Students explore cyanotype,
van dyke brown, gumprint, collage, reproduction, and transfer techniques,
and are given a basic working knowledge of the graphic arts films and
print films. Also covered: Polaroid materials, copy machines, mural
printing, video, computer graphics, and applied color. Ideas related
to text, installation, and performance may also be explored. Each student
is encouraged to experiment in both silver and non-silver processes
and to conduct research independently. Prerequisite: PHOTO 1002.

to using the still photographic image with current electronic imaging
processes. Students explore the potentials of computers and software
in developing their imagery and ideas. Areas of concern include: color,
collage, image manipulation, and drawing, as well as the technical skills
necessary for using the computers and software. Prerequisite: PHOTO
1002.
