PERF 4000
Independent Projects: Performance
Undergraduate Projects gives the student the opportunity to explore
a specific problem in the student’s area of concentration, carried
out independently but with a faculty adviser. A schedule of conferences
is usually established at the beginning of the semester. Instructor
signature required for registration. Open to students at junior level
and above.
PERF 4002
Concepts, Proposals, and Actions
This course examines nontheatrical approaches to performance, shifting
it from the context of the theater, gallery, or cabaret to the street,
apartment, or shopping mall. Private performances, art/life crossover,
persona work, ritual, and duration are explored. Documentation and presentation
of such works are addressed.
PERF 4004
Performance: Dance, MultiLevel
This is a technically-based performance class stressing the creative
aspects of improvisation and composition through dance.
PERF 4005
Performance Specialties
This advanced performance class is intended to give the department the
flexibility to offer specialized topics as needed. A wide range of aesthetic
and practical concerns are addressed, reflecting contemporary forms
and issues in the performance field. See the current course schedule
for a description of the topic to be offered in any particular semester.
PERF 4006
Directing for Performance
This course focuses on the fundamental skills of directing as they apply
to performance. Students learn how to direct others in their own material
as well as how to work with a director when performing.
