PERF 1000
Hatha Yoga I
This course focuses on hatha yoga, the branch of yoga which works the
body and its energies, the breath, and the mind. It consists of classical
and contemporary yoga postures, breath awareness exercises, concentration
techniques, systematic deep relaxation, and meditation. The history,
philosophy, and different methods of yoga are introduced.
PERF 1001
T’ai Chi I
This course introduces students to t’ai chi, an ancient Chinese
exercise that teaches self-discipline, body-mind coordination, and respect
for one’s internal rhythms through the use of sustained movements
to gain an increased awareness of the nature of physical and mental
expressions.
PERF 1002
Ballet I
This basic-level practical study of classical ballet is rooted in the
Cecchetti method and is intended primarily as a point of departure for
students of other art forms.
