LANGUAGE 2001
Spanish I

An introductory course in reading, writing, and conversational Spanish. Prerequisite: First Year English requirement.


LANGUAGE 2010
Spanish II

This is a continuing course in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish. Prerequisite: Language 2001.


LANGUAGE 2005
French I

This course is part one of a two-semester sequence. Its goal is to provide students without any knowledge of the French language a solid foundation in the basic patterns of written and spoken French and an understanding of the particular socio-cultural norms necessary for everyday communication in France. These are achieved in several ways: (1) a careful study of French grammar, with a communicative approach, (2) a study of the basics of French phonetics, and (3) use of a variety of supplmental materials such as readings, movies, commercials, etc. French I is the first part of the course sequence. No previous study of French required.


LANGUAGE 2050
French II

This course is part two of a two-semester sequence. Prerequisite: LANGUAGE 2005 or agreement of instructor.


LANGUAGE 4000
Independent Study: Foreign Language

Undergraduate Projects gives the student the opportunity to explore a specific problem in the student’s area of concentration, carried out independently but with a faculty adviser. A schedule of conferences is usually established at the beginning of the semester. Available only to full-time School of the Art Institute degree students at junior level and above with the consent of the faculty adviser. Limited to 6 credits in any given semester. Instructor signature required for registration.
