INARC 1001
Introduction to Interior Architecture

An introduction to the theory and practice of the profession of interior architecture. Lectures, demonstrations, and studio exercises explore the basics of designing interior spaces,-from color and light to the process of design. Emphasis is on idea-making techniques through conceptual sketching and analysis. Field trips to Chicago’s landmark buildings, museums, and design offices are included. This course is a required first step in the interior architecture design sequence, as well as an opportunity to learn about the profession before committing to the intensive post-foundation curriculum.

INARC 1002
Design Drawing

A basic drawing course for beginning students. Freehand drawing, mechanical drafting, and computer drafting are used to accurately communicate the way objects and interior spaces look in orthographic projections (plan, section, elevation, and perspective); paraline drawings (isometric and axonometric); architectural working drawings; and conceptual and presentation drawings. This special visual language introduces the designer to all types of drawing used in design.
