Graduate Certificate in Art History, Theory, and Criticism

The Graduate Certificate in Art History, Theory, and Criticism was created specifically for artists who seek advanced study of historical and critical issues that affect their art making. This program provides a broad background in art history, research experience, and critical writing skills in a flexible curriculum that enables students to continue their studio work. The certificate enables artists to pursue alternative or concurrent careers in teaching, writing art history and criticism, curatorial work, collection management, or related activities in art libraries and archives.

Application for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Art History, Theory, and Criticism program is open to students who have received or will be receiving an MA or an MFA in Studio from an accredited institution.
