The School of the Art Institute of Chicago recognizes exhibition opportunities and public programming as an essential component of the educational experience of its students. Its Department of Exhibitions and Events serves to enrich and augment the academic curriculum through active discourse on issues and ideas current in contemporary art.

With its spring 2001 programming, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, in conjunction with the Betty Rymer Gallery, hosts its first online exhibition Paradise Lost? e-commerce and the web April 6 through May 31, 2001.

Paradise Lost? e-commerce and the web is coordinated by the Betty Rymer Gallery, the Web Office at SAIC, and Shawn Decker, Associate Professor, Department of Art and Technology. Jurors include: Annette Barbier, Director, Center for Art and Technology, Associate Professor, Department of Radio, T.V., and Film, Northwestern University; Shawn Decker; and Michael Ensdorf, Associate Dean, Arts and Sciences, Assistant Professor, School of Communication, Roosevelt University. A jurors' discussion will be held in the Betty Rymer Gallery on Wednesday, April 18 at 4:30 p.m.
