The following are terms used in teaching ZB:
ESSENTIAL TOUCH -- to be in touch with the energy movement of another person through feeling or vibration, such as through eye contact.
INTERFACE -- to touch another at the place where energy and structure meet with a clear boundary, knowing where you stop and the other person begins.
BLENDING -- to touch another person where there is no clear boundary where you stop and they start, such as holding hands or embracing when there is a feeling of melding together.
STREAMING -- where one person sends another energy, such as hugging an upset child and actually sending him/her your energy to help and stabilize.
CHANNELING -- where energy comes in from the universe through us, such as a channeler of information, faith healers in a trance state, or even when teaching and the information just comes through.
DONKEY TOUCH -- to touch another at the level of energy and structure where trust is implicit and there is access to the level of instinct and the unconscious. This is best exemplified by an exercise where two people lean back to back, off center, and find the place of optimal balance and trust. (We use the term donkey because they are great leaners.)
It is easy to see how touch can be indicative of how we go through the world. Are we aware of connecting with another person without physical contact (essential)? Is there a sense of clarity (interface)? Is there confusion with another person because of boundary issues -- is it them or me (blending)? Are we always giving energy to another (streaming)? The more we are aware of how we touch and are touched, the greater the possibility of conscious relationships.
