Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Eligibility Requirements
The Teacher Institute in Contemporary Art is designed for experienced high school art teachers. Teachers with at least 5 years of secondary school art teaching experience are given priority consideration for admittance.
The application form requests the following information from each applicant:

1.

School size, location, and demographics of student body;
|
|
2.
|
Description of school's art department, including number and type of courses in curriculum and size of art faculty;
|
|
3.
|
Statement of interest in the Teacher Institute, including its relevance to the applicant's school art department's development;
|
|
4.
|
Number of years of secondary art teaching.
|
Selection Criteria and Process
Applicants are reviewed under the following criteria:

1.
|
National representation. It is important that each session include participants from all sections of the United States
|
|
2.
|
Size and location of school, and size of art department Each session includes participants from large programs/schools in major metropolitan areas as well as smaller schools in suburban and rural areas that may not have access to a large resource base.
|
|
3.
|
Ethnic diversity. We want to ensure that each session include representatives from a cross section of student cultural and ethnic populations.
|
|
4.
|
Mission statement of applicant, and the description of how an applicant's participation in the Institute will enhance the future development of their school's program and their own teaching. Applicants to the Art/Technology Institute must have basic understanding and experience with computers in the classroom.

Application Procedure
Completed application forms include the following:
- Completed application form with session choice ;
- Statement of interest in Institute choice (may be printed on back of application form);
- A business sized (#10) self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of acceptance decision.
Application Deadline
Applications for TICA are currently being accepted. Don't delay! Completed applications must be mailed / postmarked by Friday, April 3, 2009; faxed applications need to be recieved by Friday, April 10, 2009.
Notification Date
Notification of acceptance will be sent out no later than Friday, April 17, 2009.
