IT’S GONNA GET WORSE
(…A BUDE HUR)

2007, Petr Nikolaev, Czech Republic, 84 min.
With Karel Zidek, Filip Kankovsky

Joyously crude, unapologetically rude, IT’S GONNA GET WORSE is a black-humorous wild ride, circa 1970, into the heart of hippie life in a Czech town, on the wings of Jan Pelc’s screenplay adapted from his own novel. Scruffy Olin slashed his wrists to avoid the draft and now cleans streets to keep the Soviet overlords at bay. A gloriously sex-and-drug-driven counterculture springs up under the very noses of authorities and blossoms at a love-in at which Olin presides. Shot in black-and-white for a funky retro look. In Czech with English subtitles. 35mm print courtesy of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic, Chicago.

Screenwriter Jan Pelc will be present for audience discussion.
