Let's Love Hong Kong
Written, Produced, and Directed by Yau Ching
2002 87:00 Hong Kong 35mm
Cantonese with English and Chinese subtitles
Yau Ching's feature debut navigates between chaotic and forlorn Hong Kong city
streets and sleeping quarters and anonymous cyber sex virtual worlds. The three
women who stalk, admire, ignore, and flee one another live sometimes unknowingly
in between these worlds. Shot on location in Hong Kong without permits or a
large budget, Let's Love Hong Kong resists assumptions and taboos of queerness,
sex work, and public eroticism to reveal layers of secret games among women
whose lifestyles differ and intersect. Let's Love Hong Kong is a sexy,
intelligent, and unabashed film that does not and need not attempt to answer
the many questions it raises.
