Timeless Traditions in India’s Mughal Heartland: New Delhi in Context--an SAIC Travel Course

ACCOMMODATIONS:

While in the center of New Delhi, we will be staying at theYMCA New Delhi, a centrally located guest house. The YMCA tariff includes both breakfast and dinner. The YMCA accommodates two people per room. A single occupancy room can be arranged at an additional cost for those students who have a medical condition or other demanding necessities.

On our field trip, we will be staying at a 3-star hotels in Mathura, Agra and in Jaipur. In Mathura and Agra our Breakfast and Dinner are included. In Jaipur no meals are included. The hotels also accommodate two people per room, but a single occupancy room can be arranged at an additional cost, if needed.

For the last phase of our trip, we will be staying at Sanskriti, an international artist-in-residency foundation. It is truly a beautiful, peaceful place, an oasis from the bustle of New Delhi proper. Sanskriti will provide food, studio space and housing. Our accommodations will be quite different at Sanskriti. We will be staying in their "horse shoe studios', a collection of three studios around a court yard. The students will be sharing the studios, three to four to a room. Private single rooms are not available, but in each studio there is a smaller room (without a door and next to the bath room) for those who require a bit more privacy. We will also be occupying a large room which we will use as student studio space. This studio space is separate from the sleeping quarters, allowing for dispersed and independent activity levels.
