Visit Student Tours for a full listing of school year and summer programs.
Experienced gallery educators lead these tours, interacting with students to engage them in detailed looking, discussion, and critical thinking about works of art in the collection. A host of available topics highlight the ever-changing permanent collection installations and our special exhibitions. All docent-led tours meet Illinois State Goals in Fine Arts and numerous goals and standards in English, language arts, social sciences, science, and math. Docent-led tours meet at various times and vary in capacity depending on the tour topic and the grade level.
Teachers may choose to lead their students through the galleries without an Art Institute docent. Teacher-led tours are limited to 90 students and begin at 11:00 and run every half-hour until 4:00.
