The Auxiliary Board of the Art Institute of Chicago invites you to save the date for Nothing Is As It Appears, a masked soiree in honor of its 40th anniversary. An unexpected evening of ethereal environments and enchanting attire will celebrate our founding members, along with the accomplishments and history of the oldest arts auxiliary board in the nation.
The experience begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails in Terzo Piano. At 8:00 p.m., following libations, guests will be escorted downstairs to the museum’s beautiful and transformed Griffin Court for a dining experience full of mystery, music, and visual art. Throughout the evening, guests will encounter unexpected juxtapositions and beautifully orchestrated chaos in keeping with Surrealist tradition.
In honor of this momentous anniversary, the Auxiliary Board will match up to $100,000 of all funds raised during the course of the evening. These funds will go toward a special anniversary gift to the museum in connection with the exhibition Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926–1938, opening in June 2014.
Please join us as we both celebrate and make history! Detailed ticketing and event information for this night of enchantment and mystery will be coming soon.
