Can you tell me the value of my artwork?
The Art Institute is not permitted to conduct appraisals or authentications of artwork. Here is a list of a few organizations that do.
Can you give me information about an artist or a work of art?
The Ryerson and Burnham Libraries have numerous resources for conducting your art research.
I am a member and have a change in contact information (i.e. address, phone number, e-mail). How do I let you know?

Can I buy a print of a certain work of art?
Look in the Museum Shop.
I have a work of art that I want to sell/give to the Art Institute.

What are the names of the lions?
The two bronze lions that flank the Michigan Avenue entrance were made for the Art Institute's opening at its current location in 1893. They were a gift from Mrs. Henry Field. They have unofficial "names," given to them by their sculptor, Edward Kemeys, that are more like designations. You'll notice that the lions are not identical and thus are named for their poses: The south lion "stands in an attitude of defiance," while the north lion is "on the prowl."
Is the museum closed on holidays?
The museum is closed only three days a year: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
Where can I park?
The Art Institute does not have a parking lot, but many underground lots are located just blocks away. Members at the Member Plus level and above receive a $5 discount on parking at any of the nearby Millennium Garages.
Can we exchange links?
The Art Institute welcomes you to provide a link to its site, providing you adhere to the link-exchange policy.

Yes, the Art Institute has a number of facilities available for private or corporate events.
Do you have wheelchairs?
Yes, wheelchairs are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

How will I know what I can see during my visit?

Does the Art Institute offer reciprocal membership to other museums?
Yes. Look at the membership benefits listed under the Premium Member level.
When does the Art Institute offer free admission?
The museum offers free admission to Illinois residents every Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Does a general admission ticket include access to special exhibitions?
Yes, general admission includes all special exhibitions.
