Originally named Homewood-Flossmoor Community Associates, this group was formed in 1955 by its 19 charter members. Today, the name Southland Community Associates denotes a larger geographical area and the communities of the south, southeast, and southwest suburbs of Chicago. These suburbs comprise the majority of the group's membership of almost 200.
Unique programming produced by Southland includes two regional tours, image-illustrated lectures at the museum, and local programs creating a full calendar of events. All programs are coordinated through the Art Institute of Chicago.
Members reside in the following zip codes: 60422, 60430, 60466, 60461, 60417, 60423, 60411, 60453, 60449, and 60473.
