Southland
Originally named Homewood-Flossmoor Community Associates, this group was formed in 1955 by 19 charter members. Today, the name Southland Community Associates denotes a larger geographical area and the communities of the south, southeast, and southwest suburbs of Chicago. These suburbs comprise the majority of the group's membership of almost 200.
Unique programming produced by Southland includes a six-part Study Group series on a variety of art topics presented by members or guest lecturers. An annual January Lecture Series is cosponsored at the Art Institute of Chicago. Two regional tours, image-illustrated lectures at the museum, and local programs create a full calendar of events. All programs are coordinated through the Art Institute.
Members reside in the following zip codes: 60422, 60430, 60466, 60461, 60417, 60423, 60411, 60453, 60449, and 60473.
