Sketch Classes

Multi-session classes and one-day workshops offer the chance to draw in the museum’s galleries under the guidance of experienced instructors. All materials are provided. Classes are recommended for ages 16 and up.

Modern Art at the Art Institute

Lecture Series

This course takes a deeper look at the ideals, artists, and historical contexts that characterize early 20th-century modernism. Speakers include curators and educators and emphasizes both the collection of the Art Institute and its special exhibitions on view in the fall.

This seminar offers a small group the chance to connect what you learn in the week’s lecture even further to the Art Institute’s collection and special exhibitions. Each week, seminar participants look closely at artworks in the galleries and have facilitated small group discussions.
