How do I download the Member Card app?
Click on the link to the right to go directly to the iTunes Store or search “Art Institute Member Card” in the App Store using your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
How do I use the Member Card app?
After downloading the free app, enter your member ID (also known as your member number) at the prompt. Your member ID appears on the member card you received when you joined the museum.
You will also be asked to enter ONE of the following additional pieces of information:

e-mail address
-
zip code
Once you enter that information, the digital member card will be downloaded to your device screen. When you visit the museum, simply tap the tile and your member card—which includes your name and your level of membership—will appear.
Can the app be downloaded on both Apple and Android phones?
Yes, the app is available on both Apple and Android systems.
How do I look up my member ID?
Your member ID is just another name for your member number. If you have a printed member card, it appears under your name. You can also call Member Relations at (312) 499-4111, e-mail aicmembership@artic.edu, or visit any member desk or the Member Lounge, and a membership representative can assist you.
I entered my e-mail address, ZIP code, and phone number, but the app doesn’t recognize me. What do I do?
Enter your member ID plus ONLY ONE additional piece of information, either your e-mail address, ZIP code, OR phone number. If that doesn’t work, we may not have your most current information on file. Please call Member Relations at (312) 499-4111 for assistance.
What are the technical requirements?
This app works on Android phones and iOS 5 and above for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. To learn more about which version you have, check the Settings tile on your device. Visit Apple Support for more information about updating your device to iOS 5.
Will the app update when I renew my membership?
Yes, but not automatically. Once your renewal is processed, tap the "i" button in the lower right corner, then tap the Refresh button. If you’ve just joined today and want to visit the museum, please visit the membership desk upon arrival to receive a temporary pass.
What if I have a joint membership?
The Member Card app recognizes that you have a joint membership and will allow you to select the user whose name will appear on the card. Tap the "i" button. Scroll down to Select Cardholder. Tap on desired name.
How many users are allowed per Member Card app?
The app functions like a regular member card and allows the same number of users as the number of cards you are issued when you join the Art Institute. Just like with your regular member card, your membership is not transferable, and you may be asked to present a photo ID when visiting the museum.
How many guests can I bring with the Member Card app?
The Member Card app allows you the same benefits as your regular member card. For example, if you have a Member Plus membership, the Member Card on your iPhone will allow entry for four adults. As always, the member must be present for guests to receive admission.
Can I use my digital member card for admission to the Member Lounge and discounts at the museum's shops and restaurants?
Absolutely! Your digital member card is accepted just as a printed card in the museum’s shops and restaurants.
Will I be able to use my digital member card to receive reciprocal privileges at other museums?
Yes. Premium members and above will be able to use the digital member card to gain free admission at our partner museums. Your eligibility is indicated by the "M" icon in the lower right part of the screen.
I just joined for the first time. How long will it be before I receive my member ID?
The museum can issue a member number within a few days, depending on how you purchased your membership. You will receive your regular member card in the mail within a few weeks of signing up, but if you’d like to use the Member Card app sooner, just call Member Relations at (312) 499-4111 and they can tell you if your member ID has been assigned.
What should I do if I change phones?
All you need to do is install the app on your new phone and enter your member information.
Can I manage my membership on my phone?
At this time, the app is designed just to relieve your wallet of one more membership card. To renew your membership online, please visit www.artic.edu/joinaic or call Member Relations at (312) 499-4111.
What if I need to change information such as my phone number or e-mail address?
Member Relations can make these changes for you. Call (312) 499-4111, e-mail aicmembership@artic.edu, or visit a member desk for assistance.
How do I become a member?
You can become a member of the Art Institute of Chicago by visiting www.artic.edu/joinaic, calling (312) 499-4111, or e-mailing aicmembership@artic.edu. You can also become a member at the museum by stopping by one of the membership desks located at each entrance.
