Evening Associates

Broaden your mind and your social circle. Join the Evening Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The Evening Associates is a group of young professional Art Institute members, ages 21–40, who enjoy a full schedule of exciting programs and benefits including:

  • Special events highlighting art that's newly on view
  • 50% off tickets to After Dark, the recurring late-night party in the Modern Wing featuring a major exhibition
  • Discounted tickets to Night Heist, the Evening Associates Board's annual benefit
  • Invitations to special art-related events around the city


How to Join

Annual membership to the Evening Associates is $30 for an individual or $50 for two people in the same household in addition to any basic Art Institute membership. Already a current member of the Art Institute? No problem, you can add an Evening Associates membership at any point in your membership.

After Dark

See the Art Institute in a new light with After Dark, a late night event hosted by the Evening Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago on select Fridays in the Modern Wing 9:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m. Attendees must be 21+.

  • Get your tickets early. After Dark is the most popular event hosted by the Evening Associates; tickets sell out well in advance of each event.

Art Walk

Join the Evening Associates Board of Directors at Art Walk and explore local galleries open late just for you. Take a unique tour through a local neighborhood and experience a wide variety of art on view.

Proceeds from Art Walk support the Evening Associates’ mission to fund exhibitions at the Art Institute devoted to today's emerging artists. Attendees must be 21+, and valid ID is required.

What to Expect

  • A range of art from a dozen local galleries
  • Light refreshments
  • Continued conversation at a nearby after-party

Tickets go on sale a month before the event. Evening Associates receive discounted pricing.

  • $35 nonmembers


Join your fellow Evening Associates on tours through the museum’s collection, and continue the conversation with a stop in one of the museum’s restaurants. Tours are held throughout the year on Thursday evenings, 6:00–7:00. (For guests 21+)

  • An expert guide through the galleries 
  • Unique tours, highlighting new pieces and well-loved works in the collection 
  • Conversation and camaraderie with your fellow members

Night Heist

The Art Institute of Chicago’s Evening Associates Board invites you to “steal the night away” at the annual fundraiser Night Heist. Established to support the Art Institute’s legacy for future generations, this consistently sold-out evening is the event of the year for young art-inspired professionals. (For guests 21+)

  • Themed cocktails from celebrated Chicago mixologists, beer, wine, and hors d’oeuvres

The Evening Associates Board of Directors is a group of young leaders that engages thousands of their fellow Chicagoans in supporting the arts and the Art Institute. The board is a diverse group of young, art-inspired professionals whose mission is to engage Chicago’s young creative explorers with the Art Institute of Chicago, drive Evening Associates membership, promote an understanding and appreciation of the arts, and fundraise for exhibitions featuring emerging artists.

The Evening Associates have helped fund such exhibitions as Kemang Wa Lehulere: In All My Wildest Dreams and Helena Almeida: Work is never finished.
