This year’s theme, “A Passport to Modern,” allowed children and their families to explore art through the ages from the 11th-century to the present-day. Four works of art were selected to represent a broad variety of styles, cultures, and media. Throughout the treasure hunt, children acquired stamps and stickers in their passport booklets to mark their journey.
At the end of their exploration, families proceeded to the state-of-the-art Ryan Education Center, located in the Art Institute’s new Modern Wing, where children created passport holders inspired by the discoveries on their treasure hunt. The afternoon concluded with a holiday-themed tea party featuring performances by the New Trier High School Swing Choir and a special appearance by Artie the Lion.
