American Perspectives

September 15, 2007–June 15, 2008

You are invited to experience the rich diversity of artistic expression that defines the American experience. Following the highly successful citywide collaboration, Silk Road Chicago, American Perspectives brings together the Art Institute, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Poetry Foundation to celebrate the myriad artistic traditions that make us who we are as Americans. American Perspectives offers visitors the extraordinary opportunity to view groundbreaking exhibitions of American masters Jasper Johns, Edward Hopper, and Winslow Homer from a new vantage point. A lively assortment of performances, lectures, poetry readings, and gallery talks—featuring the work of some of the country's most prominent artists, writers, performers, and composers—examines the many and varied threads that create our historical and cultural fabric.
