Unthink Everyday Objects

August 7, 2014
Griffin Court
Free with museum admission

René Magritte and the Surrealists embraced the idea of artistic creation inspired by the subconscious, chance, and spontaneity. They often participated in group games and Magritte was no exception—his art echoes these playful and surprising effects. In that spirit and in honor of the exhibition Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926-1938, the Teen Council, under the guidance of exhibition curator Stephanie D'Alessandro, will curate and present a pop-up display of the objects submitted for admission as part of our day of Surreal Pricing on July 24. In addition to the display, pop-up activities invite visitors to “unthink” the museum through programs, activities, and interventions in the galleries.
