Sketch Class: Modernist Drawing—Picasso and Matisse

March 2, 2013
Morton Auditorium
$160 per member

This six-week class will focus on drawing techniques by modern masters Picasso and Matisse, in addition to those by Expressionists and Surrealists. The special exhibition Picasso and Chicago as well as concurrent installations   will expose students to various phases of Picasso’s stylistic evolution and to works by his contemporaries and followers. This class will encompass a wide range of approaches to works in the museum by modern artists using a variety of drawing materials.

Member Sketch Classes offer beginners and those with prior experience an introduction to the concepts and practices of drawing. This is a unique opportunity to draw in the museum and to learn by observing the work of acknowledged masters. Students’ perceptual skills and technique will be heightened as they discover new means and materials to convey their individual expressions. Critique sessions allow time for the exchange of ideas and insight into emerging personal styles.

Six Saturdays: March 2, 2013 - April 13, 2013 (no class March 30)

Registration for this class is now closed.
