Screening: Do You Believe in Ghosts?

January 14, 2016
Price Auditorium
Free with museum admission, registration required.

Video students from Chicago Public School Jones College Prep present short films they created inspired by a special collaboration with contemporary artist Charles Ray, whose exhibition, Charles Ray: Sculpture, 1997–2014, was on view at the Art Institute in the summer and fall of 2015.

Following a field trip to the museum to see the Ray exhibition, the students got a special visit from the artist in their classroom. Ray shared some of his original ghost stories and talked about being an artist, film and spirituality, thought experiments, and his influences. The resulting films are a reflection of this exchange and address ghosts or problems in the lives of Jones students—real, imagined, or otherwise.
