Sacred Space: Burmese Wall Paintings of the Nyaungyan and Konbaung Dynasties

Murals depicting Buddhist themes—as well as protective figures, textile patterns, and magical imagery—adorn the walls of many temples in central Burma (present-day Myanmar). This talk will explore those images in context of their sacred spaces and in relation to the social, economic, religious, and cultural trends of their times.
