Pop-Up Talk: Photography Is ________ .

September 26, 2014
Meet in Gallery 100
Free with museum admission

Included in the anniversary celebration for Photography Is ______________ is a display in Gallery 10 showcasing over 60 of the greatest photography acquisitions of the past five years. This triumphal display showcases the tremendous diversity of photography, while underscoring its excellence across a range of fields: amateur snapshots, press images, books and printed matter, avant-garde experiments, and contemporary art, among others.

In this talk, curator Liz Siegel talks about August Sander’s photograph Young Farmers (1914). Pop-up talks, like this one, are offered on select Fridays throughout the season. A roster of speakers bring their own varied backgrounds and knowledge to bear on a single chosen work from this anniversary display. Each speaker will spotlight a work in a talk lasting 20 to 30 minutes, followed by your questions. Check out the full list of Photography Is Pop-Up Talks.
