>Artist Christine Sun Kim performs a talk about her relationship with the church bells she has been watching from her apartment in Berlin, and how her observations have moved her to evolve her previously held ideas about bells and sound.

>About the Artist

>Christine Sun Kim is a Berlin-based artist who uses the medium of sound in performance and drawing to investigate her relationship with spoken languages and her aural environment. Projects include using the audience’s voice as her own, conducting a group of people to “sing” with facial movements, and composing visual scores with sign language and musical symbols.

>Selected group exhibitions and performances have been held at or as part of: White Space, Beijing (solo); Carroll / Fletcher, London (solo); De Appel, Amsterdam (solo); nyMusikk, Oslo; Andquestionmark, Stockholm; Southern Exposure, San Francisco; Sound Live Tokyo, Tokyo; Berlin Biennale, Berlin; Shanghai Biennale; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Hood Museum, New Hampshire; and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Kim has participated in artist residencies and/or led workshops at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Tate Modern, Arnolfini Centre, and the University of Texas Visual Arts Center. She has been both TED Senior Fellow and MIT Media Director’s Fellow.
