Are you curious about contemporary art?  Do you find it challenging or puzzling and want to learn more? Join us for four lectures that will trace the evolution of contemporary art using the Art Institute’s growing collection.

In this session, we look at the 1960s and 70s, when artists Robert Smithson, Eva Hesse, Robert Morris ,and Claire Zeisler, among many others, began to experiment with materials rarely seen in traditional art forms. Felt, latex, aluminum, plastic, and dirt were just a few of the familiar substances that suddenly made themselves at home in galleries and museums. From bricks and mortar to digital realities, see how the mediums delivered a new message.
