Lecture Series: Connecting with Contemporary—Art in Flux

August 6, 2015
Fullerton Hall
$8 members, $12 nonmembers

Are you curious about contemporary art?  Do you find it challenging or puzzling and want to learn more? Join us for four lectures that will trace the evolution of contemporary art using the Art Institute’s growing collection.

This session concentrates on Conceptual Art and related happenings, which were hard to document, but impossible to forget. The wall-based text works of Kay Rosen and Lawrence Weiner, actions of Vito Acconci and Ant Farm, art films, and food events diversified the way in which artists reached audiences, often implicating viewers in their work. In this talk, we’ll trace the trajectories of an exponentially growing range of artists.
