Reliquaries are an especially vibrant form of medieval art that served the important function of housing relics. They are tasked with concealing and protecting sacred matter while at the same time displaying and framing it. Join PhD Candidate Julia Oswald to delve into a few representative examples in the collection of the Art Institute.
