Film Screening: The Painting (Le Tableau)

November 3, 2012
Price Auditorium
Free with museum admission; adults and children ages 9 and up

Enjoy a feast for the eyes as well as the imagination in this feature-length animated film from France by director Jean-François Laguionie. Experience an imaginary world where characters in paintings come to life. Meet the impeccably painted Alldunns who live in a majestic palace, the Halfies who are shunned by the Alldunns because the Painter has left them incomplete. Meanwhile, the untouchable Sketchies, simple charcoal outlines, are banished to the cursed forest. Follow the adventures of  Claire, a Halfie, and her beloved Ramo, an Alldunn, as they journey to discover what the Painter has in mind for all his creations.

An optional Tween Workshop for children ages 9–12 will follow the film screening.  To register for the Tween Workshop click here.

The film will be screened in French with English subtitles. This special presentation is in partnership with the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and the Cultural Service at the Consulate General of France in Chicago.
