Family Festival: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. Visit a drop-in workshop to create a work of art that helps your community, explore your creativity in a program led by a teaching artist from the South Side Community Art Center, hear stories by the performance duo "In the Spirit" and more!

Registration is not required for this program. 

All programs take place in the Ryan Education Center in the Modern Wing. All ages (except when noted).


Storytelling
11:30, 12:30, and 1:30 (30 minutes)
Studio A
Listen to stories of serving the community and helping others inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. in a program led by storytelling duo In the Spirit. 

Community Collage
10:30–2:00
Studio B
Create a collaborative collage inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.

Community Art Center
10:30–2:00
Classrooms 3 and 4
Join the South Side Community Art Center in two art activities inspired by Dr. King’s legacy—one for children ages 5–10 and another for tweens and teens! 

Family Gallery Walk
Ages 6–12
12:15 and 1:15 (30 minutes)
Meet in Classroom 5
Explore images of friendship and peace on an interactive family gallery walk. 

More Museum Fun!
All Day
Visit the Vitale Family Room and explore interactives, read picture books, and play computer games that teach children about art.
